Thimbleberry Pottery | Identity Design

Thimbleberry Pottery is a San Francisco-based ceramic studio, owned and operated by Morgan Loehr. Morgan came to me with the request to establish an identity for her exquisite artwork, which is centered around functional, handmade pottery for the home—mugs, bowls, and her famously sought after colanders. I began the project by creating a document of ilustrative and type-based logos, as well as potential color palettes to consider for her website and brand collateral. As we worked through the brand strategy, it became clear that Morgan wanted an identity as clean and pure as her artwork. We settled on a simple wordmark in a sans serif typeface, enclosed on each end with a simple graphic of the “screws” she crafts so precisely onto the handles of the signature colanders.
