Westminster | Graphic Design + Art Direction

While working as the Graphic Design Associate at Westminster, a private day school in Buckhead, I worked on a marketing team as the creator of visual assets for the Office for Institutional Advancement as well as assisting with school-wide needs for the different divisions. In addition to designing for both print and web, I also served as a client manager for alumni engagement communications and a member of the Engagement and Alignment task force. These two branches gave me the opportunity of working with teams outside of marketing in unique and community-focused ways.

I was fortunate at this position to not only be able to create a wide variety of design work, which included (but not limited to): email and web layout design, invitation design, packaging design, and publication design; creating templates and decks for segmented email campaigns, a strategic communications plan to inform and celebrate newly-accepted students to the school, assisting with art direction and editing of the bi-annual magazine and overall management of visual consistency across the brand. Another really exciting part of my role at Westminster was being able to work with contracted photographers on multiple-day-long photoshoots each fall and spring to capture campus and student life.

Fall 2020 Magazine

I had the opportunity to art direct the cover of the fall 2020 issue of our biannual magazine. This magazine reaches the entire Westminster community—from alumni to current families, grandparents and community members invested in the institution.

This issue was particularly tricky to nail down a concept, as 2020 brought ups, downs and curveballs to the way things are usually done at Westminster. We settled on the concept of a solo performance on stage, as the school made the decision to return back on campus, fully masked and distanced, in person. We felt like all eyes were on us, as the community watched how we navigated the decision successfully throughout the semester. It took courage and rehearsals of every scenario to pull of a safe return, and the magazine cover depicts that moment of decision-making; of no turning back.
